“This particular aspirant is somebody that has been arrested for spend fake dollars in a nightclub in America, and he has been detained for months.

“He doesn’t have the competence to do what he is being propelled to do. This is somebody that has gone for rehabilitation before. The records are there at the Gbagada General Hospital. we don’t want to go too far. Our leadership should have a rethink.

“Don’t Just Depend On Me”- Lionel Messi Warns Barcelona

Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, has said the club has good enough players to not have to depend on him to bail them out every week, after helping salvage a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao.

The Argentine started the game from the bench and was introduced in the second half as the hosts chased an equalier.

Messi, who was introduced in the 55th minute, had already hit the post and seen a free kick cleared off the line when he set up Munir El Haddadi to equalise with five minutes to play.

“We have the squad and the players to be a great team, to be a strong team and not depend on anyone.

“This is Barca. We have enough players, we don’t need to depend on one.

“These results have been a shame, but we have to stay calm because it’s a long season,” Messi told BeIn Sports when asked if Barca were too reliant on him.

Ekiti election: Tribunal dismisses PDP’s application for recount of ballot

Application by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the recount of ballot papers used in the July 14 poll in Ekiti state has been dismissed

- The application was dismissed by Ekiti governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja

- Chairman of the three-member tribunal, Justice Bolaji Belgore, declared that the application lacked merit

The Ekiti governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja has dismissed an application by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the recount of ballot papers used in the July 14 poll. The PDP and its candidate, Prof. Olusola Kolapo are challenging the outcome of the election in court.

The respondents in the matter are Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), All Progressives Congress (APC) and Dr Kayode Fayemi, the winner of the election.

Ruling on the application, the chairman of the three-member tribunal, Justice Bolaji Belgore, declared that the application lacked merit.

Belgore noted that Ekiti had 177 wards with 2,197 polling units in 16 local government areas but the petitioners only complaine of 325 polling units in their petition beforethe tribunal.

The chairman said PDP and its candidate did not complain about all the 2,197 polling units in the state.

“To pray for recount in all wards and polling units across the state is to make firm nonsense of the petitioners’ pleading,” Belgore said.

According to him, pleadings are written statements of parties in a procedure wherein they clearly state the materials, including documents, they will rely on in the proceeding.

He said the tribunal could only admit where it was supported by pleading, adding that what the petitioners wanted could not be situated in their pleading before the tribunal.

                                Aramoko Ekiti Heritage                                                   Festival 2018

The chairman further said that the evidence so generated from the recount would have no basis in the proceeding.

He added that what the petitioners wanted to do was to spring a surprise on the respondents which they would not be able to respond to as time for pleading had closed.

He stated that the tribunal was in agreement with the submission of the counsel for Fayemi, Chief Akin Olujimi (SAN), that the petitioners were fishing for evidence under the guise of recounting the ballot.

The relief that seeks the recount be done in the presence of two representatives of the parties in the matter, secretary of the tribunal and security operatives, the tribunal held that involving its secretary would amount to the secretary giving evidence for the petitioners.

“The secretary of the tribunal cannot be a party to do what the application wanted,” Justice Belgore stated.

He, therefore, declared: “we hereby rule that the application is lacking in merit.”

In a related development, the tribunal turned down INEC’s application from excluding the smart card reader machines used in the July 14 governorship election.

Ruling on the application argued by Dr Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN) for INEC, Belgore said that excluding the card readers from inspection would be tantamount to setting aside the tribunal’s early order granted on July 26.

The tribunal, however, made a consequential order that the inspection of the card readers must be completed by the end of each party’s case, which would commence on Oct. 17.

The chairman declared that the consequential order was not setting aside the exparte order granted on July 26.

The tribunal thereafter adjourned the commencement of hearing in the petition until Oct. 17.

We Wish Kwara Election Is As Credible As Osun Election – Group

Kwara Must Change wishes to inform the general public that we carefully followed the recently conducted Governorship election in Osun state and the reactions that trailed its outcome.

While it is true that Kwara Must Change didn’t go to Osun to observe the governorship election, it is important to state that we carefully studied the position of several local and international observers that monitored the election.

Before we go further into giving our position on the Osun election,it is necessary to remind the general public that in November 2017, local government election took place in Kwara State and during the build-up to that election,

some peaceful youths in Lafiagi town, Edu local government were violently murdered in broad daylight by Senator Shaaba Lafiagi’s security.

Until this day, nobody has been held accountable for the murder, neither did the Kwara State Government issued any statement in recognition that some Nigerian citizens under its watch had been cruelly denied of their fundamental right to life.

In the November local government election in Kwara State, the world witnessed the height of impunity and rape of democracy. Not only were the peoples mandate violently stolen from the winners, we also witnessed an outright murder of people who were only exercising their democratic rights.

It is with this background that Kwara Must Change took a special interest in the Osun governorship election and followed all reports emanating from credible observers monitoring the process.

One of the credible observers at the Osun governorship election is the United States embassy, led by its Consular General, Mr John Bray. The United States Consular General, Mr John Bray described the process as credible.

The U.S embassy head in Lagos, who personally observed the Osun governorship election was reported to have said, ‘’he didn’t observe any malpractices or violations of the Electoral Act in Unit 17, ward 5 where the election took place’’. Many other observers also reported similar things.

However, some other observers reported something contrary, which is also worthy of note. Center for Democracy and Development (CDD) through its director,

Idayat Hassan lamented that the conduct of some key stakeholders clearly ran contrary to democratic norms and standards. Other observers also shared similar opinion.

For us at Kwara Must Change, we are of the views that, there seems to be some short comings in some of the polling units which needed to be improved upon going forward. Notwithstanding, this didn’t make the overall conduct of the election and its outcome less seminal.

While we urge the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to improve in its conduct of elections in the future, we wished that an election as credible as this is conducted in Kwara State.

We also wished that all those raising their voices in the osun election also did the same during the rape of Kwara election.

Surprisingly, those who violently raped Kwara and openly stole the peoples mandate are the same set of people complaining about Osun’s election.

Kwara Must Change therefore call on the Federal government to bring all those who are responsible for the killings of youths in Lafiagi town to book.

I Saw P-Square Reunite In My Dream – Daddy Showkey

According to Showkey, after he saw the brothers reuniting in his dream, he believes they can actualize that in reality.

When Sunday Scoop reached out to the ghetto singer to find out if he had actually done anything to bring the twin brothers together in the real world, he replied in the affirmative.

He said:

“It is true that I dreamt about P-Square’s reconciliation and I am working on it. I believe in the process through which the revelation came and I am sure that something will come out of it. It is something that I’m very emotional about.

It is not really an issue I want to discuss with anybody until I know what I’ve achieved in my quest. I really love those boys together and I believe they still have a great future together. I don’t want to talk much about the moves I’ve made but when the results begin to show, it would be obvious to everyone.”

Lending his wealth of experience to artistes (especially groups) on how they can stand the test of time,

Showkey said:

“Just like in every other area of human endeavour, it is normal for people to fall out with one another. It all depends on the individuals involved and how they manage their differences. You may stop doing business with someone but you don’t have to become enemies. For you to last in the entertainment industry, you have to be consistent, original and stay true to what you believe in.”

BREAKING!! ASUU Set To Join NLC Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities may join the Nigeria Labour Congress in the ongoing industrial action.

The Owerri Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Prof Uzo Onyebinama, disclosed this at a press conference at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

While debunking that the strikes were not sponsored by the opposition parties, Onyebinama said the reason of ASUU strike was as a result of the Federal Government’s inability to fulfill the 2009 agreement with the union on the welfare of its members.

His statement read in part,

“You will recall that the 2009 FGN —ASUU Agreement made provision for the re-negotiation of the Agreement every three (3) years.

“Consequently, the first renegotiation of the Agreement should have been in 2012. This was not to be. The first renegotiation of the Agreement commenced in March 2017.

“As we speak now, the renegotiation exercise has broken down since May 2018 (after 14months), due largely to the deliberate tactics adopted by the leader of the Government Team, Dr. Wale Babalakin, to scuttle the renegotiation, by jettisoning the principle of collective bargaining and the gains of previous agreements, memorandum of understanding and memorandum of action.

“In addition, the government team insisted that education ought to be funded from ‘diverse sources’ and consequently proposed the establishment of an Education Bank and a Students’ Loan Scheme.”

The Union urged the Federal Government to, as a matter of urgency, provide a platform for the leadership of ASUU to engage State Governors on issues of proliferation of universities, underfunding of state universities, undue interference in the administration of state universities, and the non-implementation of various components of the 2009 Agreement in many state universities.

The union said it would be left with no other choice than to embark on an industrial action if the contentious issues were not resolved.

“Why I Signed Alliance With APC For Thursday Rerun” – Omisore

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has explained why he decided to form an alliance with the All Progressives Congress,APC ahead of Thursday Osun State rerun election.

Omisore who had been visited by PDP and APC leaders for an alliance on Wednesday finally announced his decision to join APC.

On why he signed alliance with APC, Omisore in a letter he personally signed on Wednesday, titled: ‘Formation of Coalition Government and Rerun of Governorship Election on Thursday 27th September, 2018, on Osun State,” said his decision to form an alliance with the APC was because of its readiness to adopt and implement SDP’s programme.

The letter reads:-

“Our decision to form a coalition government is based on a party that is ready to work with SDP to adopt and implement the core values of our party which is social justice, equity and good governance.

“The PDP and APC parties have approached us for coalition based on our performance and grassroots network, especially in the seven units earmarked for rerun.

“Our core values and philosophies as indicated in our SDP manifestos, ‘Restoration Agenda,’ have all been presented to the APC and PDP representatives who have approached us for support and formation of a coalition government.

“The core party’s programmes include: “Professionalism and Performance in the Public Sector,” which by interpretation, “Workers must be motivated and trained; Payment of the accumulated salaries; Pensions and arrears within the first three months of the administration; to be followed by payment of full salary to all categories of workers.

“Revamping of Education Sector; Equity in Access to Services across Osun State; Local Content and Innovation in the Investment and Development of the state; Focus on robust and Effective security of all and sundry.

“Restoration and uplifting the condition of service Obas and Chiefs in the state.

“For the ‘Restoration Agenda’ to be effectively implemented, SDP, Osun State would ensure that her core values are considered and incorporated into the development agenda of a party of choice for a meaningful coalition.

“In this regard, we have forwarded our proposals for coalition government to the PDP representatives headed by the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and the APC high-powered delegation by Dr Kayode Fayemi, the newly elected governor of Ekiti State.

” The APC had since come back to accept all the conditions proposed to them by us to form a coalition government, while the PDP party is yet to respond.

“We have therefore as a party, SDP, accepted to support the APC for victory in the rerun election tomorrow and therefore form a coalition government.”

Ekiti: Ogboni generalissimo advises Fayemi

Soon-to-be installed Aare Ogboni (generalissimo of Ogboni Ekiti) of Ekiti State, Chief Emmanuel Ayodele Famodimu, has advised the incoming governor of the state, John Kayode Fayemi, to go all out in righting every wrong done to governance by his predecessors when he is inaugurated on October 16 to pilot the affairs of the state for the next four years.

He handed this advice to Fayemi on Tuesday when he was received by top members of the Ogboni confraternity at the Imesi Ile, in Osun State, origin of Oke-lmesi town in Ekiti, as part of the traditional preparations for his installation as the Aare Ogboni, generalissimo of Ogboni cult in Ekiti.

Famodimu, who predicted that Fayemi’s government would bring comfort and progress to the people of the state, was quick to advise the governor-elect to run a government that would relate closely with the masses.

He also urged Fayemi to be humble and do things more differently from what obtained in his first tenure which allegedly down.ed the role of the common Ekiti people.

“I am a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and I galvanized support for the party as a reputable man in Ara Ekiti. This time of Fayemi, there will be peace in Ekiti and our youths shall live long and have progress. Fayemi will succeed.

“As the new Aare of Ekiti, I pray for Fayemi that he will succeed as the Almighty lives. I advise him to be more humble and be a born again. He should right all the wrongs that have been done in Ekiti. He should draw closer to all Ekiti people, especially the common people who have voted overwhelmingly to bring him back. He should do all our bad roads and also revive the dead factories, ” he said.

Chief Famodimu, 51, who spoke about his achievements as a traditionalist and well-known priest of Osanyin, a Yoruba deity respected for making accurate predictions on any area of life, said his past deeds in the circle of traditionalists in the state, have put him in better position to emerge as the next Aare Ogboni Ekiti.

His words: ” I have more than five buildings and have a very good reputation. I have been the Oluwo of Ekiti for 14 years. I have also been the Asosoyin of the Ara-Ijero of Ekiti who keeps the deity called Osanyin, l have been doing this for more than 33 years now.

“We will ensure that there is peace and stability in Ekiti. I will work with the monarchs to ensure things are smooth and that they have cordial relationship with their subjects and the government of the day.”

Asked why he still retains his baptismal name, Emmanuel, when he actually practices traditional religion, Famudimu said he does not discriminate on religion, adding that the Almighty God is supreme over all beings and situations: “I was born into the family of traditional worshippers but while growing up, I had a stint in Christianity and was baptized and with that I got the name, Emmanuel.

“But when I came of age, I realized that I would be trading off my heritage as a traditionalist so I returned to my roots. But this has not stopped me from supporting Christianity, my child was last Sunday ordained as a servant of God in the church. So, I do not oppose Christianity.

” My grouse with Christians is that they have placed Jesus Christ above the Almighty God. They are always giving honour and glory to Jesus Christ and leave, down. the Almighty father, do you not think that the Almighty father would be angry with that? Jesus Christ was born of a woman, just as all of us were born of women, although, some are super beings. But the Almighty God has created all things, including all humans,” he said.

Commenting on the tragedy that recently befell the late monarch of Odo-Oro, Oba Gbadebo Ogunsakin, who was stabbed to death by one of his subjects, the in-coming Ekiti Ogboni generalissimo, assured Ekiti monarchs that he would use his office to protect them from evil plans by their enemies.

“Everyone has his own faith, some are Muslim, others are Christian, while others still hold into the tradition of their forefathers, but my advise for all is that we should always rely on the Almighty God, only He can set things straight for us.

“In my own tenure as the Aare Ogboni of Ekiti, I will ensure that the monarchs are protected against onslaught by their enemies so we won’t have the kind of tragedy that befell the deceased monarch of Odo-Oro. I will work closely with all monarchs in Ekiti to ensure that they are protected and no evil come close to them.”

Obasanjo Must Follow Me To EFCC – Governor Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, said former President Olusegun Obasanjo should be ready to clear his name of any allegation levelled against him.

The governor also asked the ex-President to stop raising alarm on plot to arrest him by the Federal Government.

He said: “Nigerians are being humiliated every day by President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime which he (Obasanjo) helped to enthrone.” “Some of us have gone through trials before and we are not afraid of trials even today.”

The governor, who insisted that Obasanjo deserves whatever humiliation he was getting from President Buhari, said “the President can go ahead and arrest the ex-President if he desires but should remember that what goes around comes around.” “He won’t be President forever too.

After all, they have been intimidating and humiliating former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife,” Fayose said.

The governor referred to Page 96 of Obasanjo’s book, “My Watch,” where he wrote “I prefer him (Buhari) to jail me than Jonathan to return to destroy this nation,” noting that “since the ex-President himself said he preferred to be jailed by Buhari and worked for his enthronement, the President can hasten his arrest and imprisonment.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Fayose said:

“When other Nigerians were at the receiving end of President Buhari’s dictatorship, Obasanjo was going in and out of the Presidential Villa. “Where was he when Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd) was arrested and detained since 2015 despite court orders for his release?

When over 1,000 members of the Nigeria’s Islamic Movement were killed in Zaria and their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, arrested and dumped in detention since 2016 despite of court orders, what did Obasanjo do?

“Where was Obasanjo when armed men of the DSS invaded the Ekiti State House Assembly and abducted one of its members? Did Obasanjo travel out of Nigeria when judges were being arrested in the night in a Gestapo manner?”

According to the report, a total of $45.74 billion was invested for 42 projects in nine states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The sectoral analysis of the investment profile showed that mining and quarrying accounted for 61% of the total investment and manufacturing, 28%.

Others sectors are transportation and storage, five percent; real estate, three percent; and the remaining sectors accounting for three percent.

It added that the investments were from investors in 11 countries, with French companies accounting for 35% of the value, closely followed by Nigerian companies at 31%.

The report said the UK’s investment stood at 20%; Luxembourg seven percent and the remaining eight percent were from the other countries.

Rivers received 35% of the total sum while Bayelsa and Lagos received 26% each. “The top 10 announcements accounted for 43.1 billion dollars, representing 94 per cent of the value of the announcements,” the report read.

He said he worked for the far-left political party, The Black Panthers, before he was drafted to help Tupac flee America.

Michael told TMZ The Black Panthers issued the order to get Tupac into a safe place.

He said: “It was me, my bother, the pilot, Tupac as the co-pilot and two Panther guys on the jet.

“We took off and immediately knew we were safe, we felt good and it was like escaping from prison.”

How did he ‘help Tupac escape’?

Tupac was infamously gunned down on September 7, 1996, while driving through Las Vegas. He died in hospital six days later.

Michael claims his security agency paid hospital officials a large sum to switch Tupac’s body with another deceased, to fake a death story.

Nice and his men helped the rapper disguise himself as a co-pilot, before they all flew to Barbados.

Michael added: “Then my brother helped him get to Cuba from there.”

“Kadafi was doing some kind of hand signals – he looked kind of funky.

“I saw them alive way after their said deaths.”

Fayose Personal Lawyer, Barrister Owoseni Ajayi Sues Governor Over Unpaid N600 Million Legal Fees

Ado-Ekiti-based lawyer Barrister Owoseni Ajayi, has urged Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose to pay him professional fee amounting to N600 million for legal services rendered in the past.

Ajayi, who was Fayose’s personal lawyer for many years before he was appointed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice twice, listed thirteen high profile cases handled for the governor which had not been paid for.

In a letter he wrote to Fayose which was made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, Ajayi said he made a moderate demand of a sum of N600 million at the rate of N50 million per each of the cases listed subject to accruable interest.

Ajayi said the cases were not handled free but were not paid for by Fayose because he was financially handicapped then noting that the governor is now buoyant enough to pay for the services rendered.

The cases include a defamation case: Ayo Fayose vs Independent Communications Network Limited with suit number HAD/8/2004 and the appeal case emanating from the same suit marked CA/AE/58/2010.

Federal Republic of Nigeria v Ayo Fayose with charge number FHC/C/179C/2006 which was a criminal case heard both in Lagos and Ado-Ekiti Federal High Courts until he (Fayose) was discharged and acquitted in October 2014 in which Ajayi appeared in all the cases.

Another case was Peter Ayodele Fayose vs Comptroller General of Prisons Suit Number: FHC/AK/CS/08/2008, which was about Fayose’s ‘controversial’ release from Ikoyi Prisons to face murder charge in Ekiti.

Other cases listed by Ajayi include Peter Ayodele Fayose vs EFCC appeal marked CA/I/144/2011, Peter Ayodele Fayose v the State marked HAD/16/2007 to stop his arraignment for murder by the Segun Oni administration, the appeal case that arose from it marked CA/14C14/2007 and the Supreme Court that emanated from it still pending marked SC449/2011.

Ajayi listed Peter Ayodele Fayose vs EFCC and Inspector General of Police with Suit No: FHC/A14CS/85/2006 following his illegal removal from office and the appeal case that followed it IGP & AG Federation v Peter Ayodele Fayose marked CA/B/44/2007.

The last case mentioned by Ajayi, who is also a former Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ado-Ekiti Branch, was E-Eleven v Peter Ayodele Fayose and 2 Ors filed to frustrate his swearing-in to office after winning the 2014 governorship election.

Ajayi said:

“You will recall that you never paid our chamber, Owoseni Ajayi & Associates for the services rendered throughout the time because of your financial incapacitation despite numerous demands because you were already out of office at the material time.

“It should be stressed that we never acted free because we are legal practitioners working for our legal fee nor offered you “pro bono” service because you were not a pauper to be qualified for such a service.

“We merely showed understanding up till now because of the prevalent circumstances verily known to you. And now that you have served another term as Governor of Ekiti State, you are financially strong enough to pay the said sum as demanded.

“Sir, you will agree with us that a labourer deserves his wages. We thank you for your patronage and we also deserve commendation for having discharged our professional responsibility with diligence and without compromise.

“And also for saving Your Excellency from several legal embarrassments.”

2019 Election: God Told Me Buhari Will Rig Election To Retain Power In 2019 – Bishop Udeh

The General Overseer of Mount Zion Faith Global Liberation Ministry Inc. Nnewi, Anambra state, Bishop Abraham Chris Udeh has called on the National Assembly to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari over his alleged move to rig the 2019 election.

Udeh said his appeal to the National Assembly stemmed from the fact that he, “saw in a vision that Buhari’s refusal to give assent to the electoral sequence was a proof that he actually wants to manipulate and rig the election.”

Speaking with News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, yesterday, the clergyman said Buhari will rig himself back into power if he’s not impeached now.

He also admonished the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to field a popular candidate that can defeat Buhari in 2019.

Udeh noted that Nigerians are tired of the Buhari administration, hence the need for PDP to field a popular Presidential candidate.

PDP should not allow the All Progressives Congress, APC, to manipulate them into fielding an unpopular candidate.

Udeh stressed that PDP was the only hope Nigerians have, hence they should bring out a popular candidate that can chase Buhari out of office because “Nigerians are tired of the antics of Buhari as a person and APC as a Jihadist party.”

He added, “So, I am therefore calling on the national assembly to either override him and adopt the electoral sequence as a working document or get him impeached now before he will manipulate the election and rig himself into power again.”

Fayemi: Olusola: Tight security as Ekiti tribunal begins sitting

There was a heavy security on Monday in Ado Ekiti High Court, where the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal is sitting, as the 3-man panel of Tribunal judges set up to hear the petition trailing the outcome of the July 14 election began sitting.

Members of the panel are: Justice Suleiman Belgore (Chairman), Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro and Aliyu Baba Usman.

The Ekiti State Police command deployed an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and several police vans which are strategically positioned in front of the court to ward off hooligans and troublemakers.

Those entering the premises, including journalists and judicial officers, were thoroughly frisked before being allowed entry.

The armoured tank, patrol vans and the personnel were strategically stationed while performing their duty.

The Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Suleiman Belgore, in his inaugural speech, promised that they would act truly as unbiased umpire and won’t betray the confidence reposed in them by the Appeal Court President, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwal.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prof Kolapo Olusola, is challenging the declaration of Dr Kayode Fayemi as the duly elected Governor, describing the election as a sham, having been allegedly rigged in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayemi polled a total of 197,459 to defeat Olusola , who garnered an aggregate of 178, 122 votes.

Belgore added that the Tribunal shall comply strictly with the provisions of the 1999 constitution, Electoral Act 2010 (as amended), Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rule and the Practice Directive as issued by the President of the Court of Appeal.

He said the panel won’t tolerate any act that could be inimical to smooth running of the Tribunal regarding the hearing and dispensation of judgement within 180 days stipulated by the Appeal Court.

“It would be recalled that on the 14th of July, 2018, election was held into the office of the Governor of Ekiti State. Following the declaration and return of Dr Fayemi of the APC as the winner, his co-contestant, Prof Olusola of the PDP is challenging the outcome and the declaration before this Tribunal.

“We cannot lose sight of the importance of our oath of office, the sacred duties we owe our conscience and the judiciary. We therefore, wish to assure all parties counsels and indeed all and sundry that the field will not only be levelled but officiating shall be impartial, fair and strictly in accordance with the relevant provisions of our laws.

“Let me warn that the Tribunal will not condone acts inimical to smooth proceedings. We hereby appeal to the members of the bar to show courtesy, diligence and due sense of professionalism in their appearances before us.

”We must all bear in mind at all times that section 285 of the constitution and Section 134(2) of the Electoral Act are clear that all petitions must be heard and judgements delivered within 180 days. So, we don’t have the luxury of time. We intend to be pedantic in our work.

“To the security agencies, especially Department of State Security and the police, we implore you to be fully alert and conscious of your operations. You cannot afford to exhibit laxity or laziness or indeed any slight indifference to security challenges in the course of performing our duties,” he said.

The Counsel to the petitioner, Barrister Adebayo Adelodun (SAN) applauded the Tribunal for giving the assurances that the Tribunal will give a level playing ground.

Adelodun, who represented the petitioner’s Lead Counsel, Mallam Yusuf Ali (SAN), said: “My lords, I am happy by your assurances that we will get fair hearing. Regarding our cooperation you sought for, you can be rest assured,” he assured.

Counsel to APC, Chief ,Akin Olujimi (SAN) and that of Fayemi, Chief Lateef Fagbemi(SAN), assured that they would not venture into any conduct that would slow down proceedings or impede the hearing of the Tribunal.

However, the Tribunal, while citing cases of insecurity and threats to lives around the Ekiti State High Court relocated its sitting to a yet to be disclosed location.

But strong indications emerged that the sitting may have been relocated to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

This relocation was sequel to the demand, in form of oral application, made by the counsel to the petitioner, Barrister Adebayo.

Adelodun (SAN), cited cases of insecurity and threat to lives encountered in the hands of the crowd that massed at the court’s gate before the commencement of the sitting.

The demand was supported by the counsels to INEC, Chief Charles Edosomwan (SAN), that of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Chief Akin Olujimi (SAN) and the Lawyer to the party’s candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

The Lawyers claimed that they were nearly mobbed by those suspected to be party goons on their way to the court in the morning, which constituted serious security threat to their lives and the course of justice and that the crowd was not discriminatory in their attacks.

The Tribunal, which rose for about an hour, later reconvened to deliver its ruling through its Chairman, Justice Suleiman Belgore.

Other members of the panel are Justices Aliyu Usman Baba and Ebiyerin Omukoro respectively.

In his ruling, Belgore said: “Following the issue of insecurity raised by the lawyers that there was threat to human lives around the court. He predicated this on his encounter with unruly crowd on his way to the court this morning and he said the venue should be relocated in view of this. And this view was not opposed by the respondents.

“Lawyers to the respondents expressed similar inclinations that the venue should be relocated to another city citing cases of insecurity to lives.

“We are critically mindful of the consequences of the applications made by the counsel to the petitioner, which was not opposed by the counsels to the respondents.

“We have rubbed minds together and came to the conclusion that this fear is real and apparent that the situation is becoming insecure and tense and we can’t trivialise such .

“We hereby grant the application because of the consequence the insecurity could have on this Tribunal and the new venue shall be communicated through our Secretary to all parties within 48 hours”, he said.

“I’m Not Afraid To Face Tomorrow, Nobody is God” – Fayose Reacts To Criminal Blacklisting By EFCC

Governor Ayodele Fayose has said that he is not afraid of being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who place him on its watch list.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has reacted to the the directive by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) who placed him on its watch list in a bid to prevent the governor from leaving the country through any land, air or sea borders.

A press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, quoted Fayose as saying he was in the Peoples Democratic Party and would remain there not minding any form of intimidation.

Fayose said he was not among those who were afraid to face tomorrow, reminding the anti-graft agency that nobody was God and God was not a man that He would condone injustice.

The governor stated that he had earlier informed the EFCC through a letter that he would come to their office on October 16, 2018. He wondered why the desperation, insisting that he would report on that day.

The statement read:-

“EFCC, when a woman is being brought to you as a wife, you don’t have to peep through the window to see her. As I said in my letter, Insha Allah, I will be in your office on October 16, a day after the expiration of my tenure.

“Putting my name on a watch list after notification of my coming is not only political but petty. I’m not among those who are afraid to face tomorrow. Nobody is God. They should expect me on October 16, 2018. I will remain in the PDP not minding their intimidation.”

The governor who also spoke his spokesman, Lere Olayinka, also asked the EFCC to stop acting irresponsibly over the matter.

“It is a further demonstration of the irresponsibility of the EFCC under Ibrahim Magu who is holding office as acting chairman illegally.

“In Nigeria today, you are only a thief when you are against Buhari, those the EFCC accused of committing fraud in the past but are now members of the APC are now clean.

“The EFCC should not waste public fund, and stop acting irresponsible, the governor has written a letter to them saying that he will be in their office by October 16, and we received a response saying the governor should come on September 20th and we saw that as a show of lack of understanding of the constitution of Nigeria.

“As at today, the governor enjoys immunity against criminal prosecution and others.”

Fayose also accused the EFCC of planning to storm his residence “with about 300 to 400 policemen” and to subsequently allege that “billions of naira were recovered from the operation”.

SEE What WAEC Is Saying About Leakage Of Exam Questions

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has condemned the activities of fraudsters in the country.

EFCC Did Not Freeze Adelekes’ Accounts – Spokesman

The EFCC has denied freezing the bank accounts of Sen. Ademola Adeleke and those of his family members, including popular musician, Davido.

Adeleke is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Sept. 22 governorship election in Osun.

Spokesman of the commission, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement on Sunday, said media publications alleging the account freeze by the EFCC were false.

“The commission calls on members the public to disregard the report, which is patently false and contrived to dress the agency with a partisan garb in the unfolding political contest in Osun State.

“For the avoidance of doubt, at no time did the EFCC place a freeze order on any account belonging to members of the Adeleke family.

“The purported freeze order which has unfortunately been amplified by pliable sections of the media without any attempt at confirmation, is alien to the commission and another example of fake news.

“The EFCC frowns at the seeming attempts by faceless forces to drag it into the political fray,” he said.

Uwujaren restated the commission’s “neutrality as a law enforcement organisation that is sworn to uphold the law at all times, irrespective whose interest is at stake.”

Nigeria Not Ripe For Youth President – MKO Abiola’s Son

The winner of 1993 presidential election, Chief MKO Abiola’s son, Abdulmumuni Abiola, has said the country is not ripe for a youth president.

Abiola told journalists at the maiden national youth summit organised by The Zealous Kwara Youths in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Saturday, that though he was hopeful that a youth could become president someday, it was imperative to give President Muhammadu Buhari a second chance, The Punch reports.

He said:-

“I do believe that there shall be a time, just like in Canada and France, when we have somebody that is around 30 in power. I don’t just think that time is right. I think there is a reason why Buhari is there and I would want us to be patient to see him through.

We should give him another four years and he will handover power to the youth.

“I do not have anybody else to campaign for. Somebody after 20 years honoured my father and did what other people refused to do, so I am supporting Buhari for a second term.”

The President of the ZKY, Mr John Adegboyega, said it was necessary to sanitise Nigeria of corrupt practises.

Adegboyega added that 2019 was not yet time for a youth to become president.

He said the youth should participate actively in the political process and elect people who would deliver good governance and move the country forward.
